About Marielle Brown...


Marielle Brown holds a Bachelor's in Music from Chatham University, Magna cum Laude, majoring in Flute and Piano. She has studied flute under Robbie Klein of Pittsburgh Jazz and Big Band fame, David Tessmer of the Pittsburgh Ballet, and studies regularly with Peggy Yoo former Principal Flute of the Manhattan School of Music Philharmonic and Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic.  She studied piano under Iona Klein, Pauline Rovkah, a former student of Eunice Norton and head of the Piano Program at Chatham University, and Paul Sisco at Chatham University.  She also actively studies flute and composition with world-renowned flutist/pianist and composer Gary Schocker. 


Marielle has been teaching since 2007.  Her students have achieved first chair in school concert band, marching band, and youth orchestras.  She is a member of the National Flute Association as well as Principal Chairs, with access to music, resources, and master classes from around the world! 


Marielle performs with Community Band South, Skara Brae (flute, pennywhistle), worship services at John McMillan Presbyterian Church, she has played as acting principal of the Washington Symphony Orchestra, as well as various other freelance gigs around Pittsburgh.  Marielle is also a recording artist, songwriter and composer.


Marielle lives in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania with her husband and two daughters, and when she is not playing music, she loves playing games and watching movies with her family, playing tennis and walking her dogs on the trail.
